It is a chance for you to know about us and about Oman. The first activity students did was planting a tree as you see in this picture. An example of good deeds is when students greet each other with a smile. Another example is saving the environment and cleaning our surroundings. Cleaning the beach of Oman to save the environment and the marine life.
A drawing showing the importance of planting trees.
Here is another example of good deeds which is cooperation. students should help each other learn.

It is great to know about this new blog started by teacher Hanaa AlHajri in Oman. The blog has nice featured stories reported by students of different grades. It also has a nice photo gallery of their different projects. I am sure more Omani students would love to write their stories in this new blog. A link for this new blog will be added here for your reference. Congratulations Good Deeds Oman team and keep up the good work. Hello everyone! My name is Jewel Mitchell and I teach 7 year old students in New York City. My students made a list of good deeds that they want to accomplish. The first good deed was feeding birds in their school yard. They chose this good deed to make sure that birds had healthy food to eat because all living things deserve to eat good food. Please read what they wrote about their experience. Thank you! Once a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) called Saad had gone to the battle field outside Medina. On the way, Saad heard that his mother who had been sick had died. Saad who loved his mother very much came to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and said that he had wanted to give charity on his mother’s behalf but it had not been possible for him. Saad then inquired if he could give charity on her behalf now that she was dead. Prophet Muhammad (S) replied in the affirmative. Saad then went on to inquire what was the best charity he could offer. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that on the route to the battle field he had seen that the soldiers were thirsty and there was a dire need of water. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) suggested that the best charity was to dig a well on the road so that caravans would benefit from the supply of water and it would also be a continuous form of charity for years to come. That was what Saad did. Aicha Smaili I took several of my Spanish students to a Food Pantry this past weekend to have them work with a growing Hispanic community in need. They were able to help out at the pantry by doing things such as stocking, etc, but also were able to meet and work with several Guatemalan and Mexican families who are in desperate need. The four walls of the classroom disappeared quickly when they were staring into the eyes of a hungry 4 year old. As a follow up and for future collaboration with anyone interested, I am having them post their reflections on our wikipage. I welcome anyone who has done a good deed project that would like to have their students post comments to ours. Here’s to changing the world one deed at a time 🙂 Deb Thompson April 26th, 2010 | Tags: Food Pantry, helping families, Ohio, US | Category: Good Deeds Stories | Leave a comment The kids in our school brought canned and dry foods to be shared with people in need. The most common food that was brought was probably soup. Many kids shared a box of dry pasta. We collect this kind of food because it will not go bad easily or quickly. We are able to walk bags of donated food to the Food Pantry that is down the street from our school. Some of the reasons we all participated are: 1 – I know I have enough, but someone else doesn’t. – Beau Teacher: Janine Torresson April 20th, 2010 | Tags: Food Drive for Our Neighborhood | Category: Good Deeds Stories | Leave a comment |
