In this solemn venture YES-alumni members are raising funds. Also bEARN will participate by donating money in their efforts.
A team of 10 members consisting of YES-alumni and bEARN staff will physically go to Patuakhali district, southern part of Bangladesh and worse affected area in the SIDR, on 21st November 2007 to distribute relief and to console the people there in their time need. The team will purchase 2& ½ metric tons of rice and ½ metric ton pulse which will be distributed amongst the affected people at Patuakhali.
For information, this is not the end. We will take some more drives to raise funds from available sources and later distribute them in suitable forms. In this respect we would appreciate any kind of cooperation and assistance in our humanitarian services from any person & corner.

On the topic of good deeds, do you think the laws of life should be an encouragement for good deeds? You are rewarded for good deeds or you are punished? Should people do good deeds for personal satisfaction or for recognition? Are the laws of life fair as far as justifying what is good and what is bad? A person steals food to feed their family or someone who is hungry, is that a good or bad deed? A person gives money to a poor person to buy food, but in reality they are supporting that person’s drug habit? Just some questions to ponder.. November 20th, 2007 | Category: Good Deeds Stories | Leave a comment I agree Good Deeds are contagious! As a pre-service teacher I hope to instill in my students a sense of good deeds/community service whether it be giving a pencil to a student who needs one, sending a letter to a soldier, letting someone in line at the grocery store go ahead of you, volunteering at a soup kitchen, or any other good deed to make someone smile. I believe a good deed can be anonymous or not. If we set an example for our students, they will follow. Louise November 5th, 2007 | Category: Good Deeds Stories | Leave a comment This project is great. I am a pre-service teacher and I just want to comment that good deeds should be taught in school as well as in the home. I hope to incorporate this into my classroom on a daily basis. I want my students to want to help others. I want them to understand that you don’t have to be an adult or be rich to do a good deed. There are so many ways that students can help others, and it is the job of teachers (not just parents) to open their eyes to this information. I am interested to hear from any teachers who have suggestions on working this into the curriculum or classroom in general. Lauren, KSU November 1st, 2007 | Category: Good Deeds Stories | Leave a comment With all the horrible news we see on television, it is hard to believe that there are still good people out in the world. I have personally experienced good deeds being done for my family over the years and I see what an impact it can make on the receiver. My little bother needed braces several years ago and it was going to take a lot for my family to be able to pay for it. My parents worked and saved to pay for the braces. When my mother went to pay the down payment, she was told that someone had already taken care of everything and she would not have to worry about a thing. This took a load off of my family and we were extremely grateful. The office would not tell her who had done this and we never figured it out. As a thank you, my mother made a cake for the office to give to whoever paid for the braces (she makes the best cakes!) A more recent situation happened to my sister and her husband. They were celebrating their three year anniversary this past month and went to eat at a nice restaurant in Atlanta. They had a wonderful dinner and when they asked for the check, the waitress said the couple that was sitting next to them paid for the whole meal. To cheer up a depressed By whom pain is suppressed Is a person of great virtue Who makes life beautiful; like the sky that is blue One is the most skillful person Who brings in life joy and fun On each face, he who brings smiles Even if happiness is on miles Is a person of great virtue who makes life beautiful; Like the sky that is blue Smiles in life are very essential Because life is multidimensional Sometimes it takes the dimension of sadness And sometimes it is replete with happiness But cherish in both conditions Makes it easier to live in a nation Thus I say, “Smile and make others’ smile” “It will add happiness to your life’s file”. SOBIA AMBREEN It is a joy to learn about Ismail Fayed great project.” Good Deeds” All the good things in life are resultant factors of good turns or good deeds. This is the most noble project to be appreciated and practiced by us all. Please let me share this personal experience on the “Good Deeds” concept. After retirement as a teacher, I decided to start a charitable organization, in order to offer a service to someone. The target group was possible street slum children, and youth; and the concept was to use available resources including waste as teaching aids and apparatus. Involvement of others was necessary to facilitate registration, though they had diverse interests on the project, despite starting from a scratch. It was amazing to realize how the project took off. The parents and guardians subscribed in kind to facilitate the feeding program. Although we had no teaching materials, no books and no class rooms, it was possible to use part of my retirement benefits to start the project. We rented slum structures to creat a school that accommodated sixty children and six part time teachers. The school encouraged multipurpose creativities, so that the materials would cover diverse subjects. Children were inspired to collect fallen flowers and leaves, charcoal bits and peaces, sticks and whatever was freely available. The nearby wood workshops offered saw-dust used as fuel to cook for the kids and wood off cuts to produce wooden toys. Skilled workmen offered skills for production of wooden toys. Well wishers subscribed for work shop expanses including band-saw costs. The children’s center produced the best wooden toys, and the happiest environment for the would be street children. I was among those who subscribed for whatever was required in the free education for the poor slum children. Other services included participation in the GYSN, where the youth volunteered to clean the environment by collecting garbage; which they did very happily. The biggest challenge was when the illegal slum structures were pulled down, including the school that offered free education through the use of available resources. Most of the school production was stolen during the demolition. The other challenge was public believe that all NGOs get great funding from donors even the very day they start to operate. It is possible to inspire communities to serve without deserving a reward. Imagine if we can avoid the use of: I, me, my, my capacity, for self esteem and selfish interest. There would be no strive for greed, no jealousy, no suspicion, if everyone aimed to do good to others. There would be cooperation, where everyone helps, and seeks advice for better achievement! May the good God help us, and the “Good Deeds Project” be embraced by all the iEARN family members and help each one of us think of others more that we think of ourselves. Quart: “It is better to give than to receive, and there is joy in doing good.” I trust the students participation in this most useful project will help to create a peaceful world and also a well Balanced Global Citizen. Please allow to include some images. Unity, love and affection is a symbol of peace
