Making a big difference to make the world a better place

Hi,

My name is Mirranda sawyerr. I am currently in Atlanta, Georgia where I am being trained to be a Middle School teacher. I believe we all have the potential to make a difference in this world no matter who we are or what profession we are engaged in. I i ntend to make a difference in the lives of the children that I will soon be teaching. I also believe that we all have positive traits that could be nourished in order to make this world a better place. I am determined not to give up on any of my student. I will try to bring the good out of every student through patience and perseverance. I think we all can make a difference by trying the following: a smile, seeking other’s interest, unselfish deeds, giving time and money for any just cause, giving cons tructive criticism, help to keep public areas clean, and always ready to say a kind word.

Good Deed

Hi Tara,

Thank you for your message.

As I live in NEw York City, I am constantly running into people who are homeless and who ask for money or food. Sadly, they are everyone . . . and I often ignore them because it is just too much to ac knowledge all. I give money sometimes, if the person seems in particular need, but most of the time I do not.

Good Deed

Dasha-

What you tried to do that day was the perfect example of a good deed. You took an everyday occurrence for that man, and went out of your way to help him. It is people like you who do good deeds in everyday situations. And that is what a good deed is. You go out of your comfort zone to help another person. The deed may not seem very big, but it truly is. I should know, because I go to school in Atlanta, GA at Georgia State University, and I see homeless men and women everyday on the streets begging f or food or money. Sometimes I take notice to them, but most of the time I continue doing my own business from the rush of the day’s schedule. I wish each time that I could help them, but I just don’t most of the time. You took a huge leap in doing your good deed. I admire that in you so much. Don’t get discouraged about him not being there. If he did not come back to find it, someone else did. And that someone had a fantastic and warm day just because of you.

God Bless You

Good Deeds Can Take Us A Long Way

Gratitude

Obedience

Outstanding

Decent

Demeanor

Etiquette

Effect

Decorum

Success

As a prospective teacher, I feel that these words describe a measure of what it means to display good deeds. Whether it’s a welcoming smile, words of encouragement, or another nice gesture; good deeds will carry us all a long way. The g ratitude shown for others will promote outstanding obedience within any community. The effect of decorum and etiquette is success. It is nice to know that people are still displaying good deeds even if it is only a few as a whole. It is possible for the few to become many and one day the good deeds displayed in the world will result in a peaceful paradise where harmony and unity exist.

Spreading a smile without knowing..

Hello friends,

I am Rabeya from Karachi, Pakistan. A student of grade 10 at habib girls’ school.

I don’t know if this was a good deed or not, but b/c it made someone feel better and spread a smile on her face, i decided it was a good deed.

One of my class mates left for US when we were in grade 6. She returned after 3 years and was re-admitted in our school. On her first day, no one came and greeted her and everone thought that b/c she’s been exposed to US and has american accent, she may h ave turned into a snob.I happened to pass by and saw her and greeted her. we talked for a long time and when we left, both of us were in good spirits.

A fwe days back, when we had a meeting in our school about trusting people, that girl said that “rabeya was the 1st person to come and talk to me so nicely, everybody thought i was a snob, but she didn’t and i think i can trust her”

It meant the world to me!

Regards,

Rabeya.

Good deed or foolish deed?

Hi,

I tried to do a good deed on Sunday, May 23rd but think that it turned into a foolish deed.

I went to an office supply store called Staples to get two items laminated (covered with a sheet of plastic). Next to the store was a doubled over man who was crying and begging for some food because he was very hungry. He was in terrible shape so I decided to buy him breakfast. I was going to give him money at first but decided to buy him breakfast because I knew that it would be very difficu lt for him to enter a yummy deli and get some food. Plus, it is hard to spend money when you do not have any. Before though, I stopped at the pharmacy and bought something I needed for the house. Then I got him a toasted poppy-seed bagel with butter (fr om a very yummy place) and orange juice that had vitamins and minerals added to boost the immune system. I had it packed in a bag and went back to give it to the homeless man. However, by the time I had got there, he had left. I was very sad because I had wanted to give him breakfast. I waited a bit, but I he did not come back. So I left the bag with the food in the corner he was sitting, hoping that either he or some other homeless person who frequents the corner would find it.

I do not know wha t happened to the food and really hope that it was not thrown away. I left a note in it saying “Food for whomever needs it” so that it would not be thrown away. But I am thinking that it was . . . that makes me very sad because I hate to see food wasted a nd because it makes me realize that I did a foolish deed, though my intentions were good.

What do you think?
