Helping Others

Helping others is a very good thing to do. If our friends have not brought their pen or pencil we should share ours with them If we see an old or a blind person we should help them. It is also very good to help our parents in househod work.

What Goes Around Comes Around

He almost didn’t see the old lady, stranded on the
side of the road, but even in the dim light of day, he
could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front
of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still
sputtering when he approached her.

Even with the smile on his face, she was worried.
No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so .
was he going to hurt her? He didn’t look safe; he
looked poor and hungry.

He could see that she was frightened, standing out
there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was that
chill which only fear can put in you.

He said, “I’m here to help you, ma’am. Why don’t
you wait in the car where it’s warm? By the way, my
name is Bryan Anderson.”

Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old
lady, that was bad enough.

Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to
put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or
two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to
get dirty and his hands hurt.

As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled
down the window and began to talk to him. She told
him that she was from St. Louis and was only just
passing through. She couldn’t thank him enough for
coming to her aid.

Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk. The
lady asked how much she owed him. Any amount would
have been all right with her. She already imagined
all the awful things that could have happened had he
not stopped.

Bryan never thought twice about being paid. This
was not a job to him. This was helping someone in
need, and God knows there were plenty who had given
him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole life
that way, and it never occurred to him to act any
other way.

He told her that if she really wanted to pay him
back, the next time she saw someone who needed help,
she could give that person the assistance they needed,
and Bryan added, “And think of me.”

He waited until she started her car and drove off.
It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt
good as he headed for home, disappearing into the
twilight.

A few miles down the road the lady saw a small
cafe. She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the
chill off before she made the last leg of her trip
home. It was a dingy looking restaurant. Outside
were two old gas pumps.

The whole scene was unfamiliar to her. The
waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe
her wet hair. she had a sweet smile, one that even
being on her feet for the whole day couldn’t erase.
The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months
pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches
change her attitude. The old lady wondered how
someone who had so little could be so giving to a
stranger. Then she remembered Bryan.

After the lady finished her meal, she paid with a
hundred dollar bill. The waitress quickly went to get
change for her hundred dollar bill, but the old lady
had slipped right out the door. She was gone by the
time the waitress came back. The waitress wondered
where the lady could be. Then she noticed something
written on the napkin. There were tears in her eyes
when she read what the lady wrote:

“You don’t owe me anything. I have been there
too. Somebody once helped me out, the way I’m helping
you. If you really want to pay me back, here is what
you do: Do not let this chain of love end with
you – under the napkin were four more $100 bills.

Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to
fill, and people to serve, but the waitress made it
through another day. That night when she got home
from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking about
the money and what the lady had written. How could
the lady have known how much she and her husband
needed it? With the baby due next month, it was going
to be hard..

She knew how worried her husband was, and as he
lay sleeping next to her, she gave him a soft kiss and
whispered soft and low, “Everything’s gonna be all
right. I love you, Bryan Anderson.”

There is an old saying What goes around comes
around
.”
Today, I sent you this story, and I’m asking
you to pass it on … Let this light shine.

Don’t delete it. Please pass this on to a friend.

ATTITUDE
IS EVERYTHING

An Hour

An Hour

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year-old son waiting for him at the door…

Son: “Daddy, may I ask you a question”

Daddy: “Yeah sure, what it is?”

Son: “Dad, how much do you make an hour”

Daddy: “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?” that man said angrily

Son: “I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?”

Daddy: “I make YTL 10 an hour”

“Oh”, the little boy replied, with his head down. Looking up, he said,

“Dad, may I please borrow YTL 3 ?”

The father was furious, “if the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or other nonsense, then march yourself to your room and go to bed. Think why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior”

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy’s questions.

How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:”May be there was something he really needed to buy with that YTL 3 and he really didn’t ask for money very often!”

The man went to the door of little boy’s room and opened the door. “Are you asleep, son?” He asked. “No daddy, I’m awake,” replied the boy.

“I’ve been thinking, may be I was too hard on you earlier”, said the man, “It’s been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here’s the YTL 3 you asked for” The little boy sat straight up, smiling “oh thank you dad!” He yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled some crippled up notes. The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at his father.

“Why do you want money if you already had some?” the father grumbled.

“Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,” the little boy replied.”Daddy I have YTL 10 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner withyou”

MORAL:
It’s just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family. An unwise investment indeed! You know what’s the full word of FAMILY?

***FAMILY***

There once was a bunch of tiny frogs,…

who arranged a running competition

The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower

A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants…

The race began…

Honestly:

No one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower

You heard statements such as:
“Oh, WAY too difficult!!”

“They will NEVER make it to the top.”

or:

“Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!”

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one…

Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher…

The crowd continued to yell,
“It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!”

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up…

But ONE continued h igher and higher and higher…
This one wouldn’t give up!

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!

THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal?

It turned out…

That the winner was DEAF!!!!

The wisdom of this story is:

Never listen to other people’s tendencies to be negative or pessimistic

because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you — the ones you have in your heart!

Always think of the power words have, because everything you hear and read will affect your actions!

Therefore:

ALWAYS be…

POSITIVE!

And above all:

Be DEAF when people tell YOU that you cannot fulfill your dreams!

Always think:
God will help me to do this!

GOOD DEEDS, 2005-2006

Hello everyone. I am a fellow student with Jennifer and Dajoun. My name is Kiersten. We work with our Student Council on many community service projects. This morning we collected money for the SPCA. We call this our Make A Wish Minute becuase we collect the money for one minute in the morning. The SPCA is an organization who helps animals in need. They take in strays, animals whose owners no longer want them. They also take care of animals who are hurt by their owners, hit by cars, or hurt by other people. The winter time is hard for abandoned animals to search for food. We collected this money to assist the shelter in buying food, medicine and supplies for the animals. We feel that we should do good deeds for all of the earth’s creatures, not just the people. We welcome your comments about our project and wonder how we can make it better.

Re: GOOD DEEDS, 2005-2006

Hi everyone!

My name is Jennifer and I am currently the President of my Student Council and President of my local 4-H club. We do many community service events that benefit a wide variety of people.

The first activity is called make a wish minutes. The first Friday of every month, students have 2 minutes in their homeroom to collect spare change and student donations. We give this money to local charities, and we sometimes hold special Make a Wish minutes when people are affected in our school by a tragedy. In the past 5 years we have raised over $35,000 with $12,000 of it coming from this year, including a $6,000 donation to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina.

Another activity that I developed was fun packs. These packs were designed with coloring sheets, games, small toys and other objects that would entertain children who were in the hospital or who had parents who were in the hospital or in surgery. The first year we made 100 packs. The project has now expanded to include adults at t he hospital, children and adults at the local air force base, and this year children and adults affected by the Hurricane Katrina.

Another project we do is nursing home favors. We make a small tray favor for each holiday and deliver them to the nursing home to be put out on the residents dinner trays for that holiday. The list of activities goes on and on and on. If you are looking for something specific just ask…

I would be more than happy to share ideas with you. 🙂

Hello from a new member in the United States

Well since we have started the Good Deeds Program we have done several things to collect for the people who are infortunate during these times and other times. Each student in the school is asked if they are able to do for others. We can bring in anything that will help people that need it. Food, clothes, money and lots of other things. We also separate the good things from the bad and also buy things if they are needed. We love the fact that we are able to help these people in every way possible. Well thank you for Righting to us we are waiting to hear back from you.
