On the morning of Thursday 20th of November, me and my team of iEARN started our first event & our first project ever..a day before my students presented the “PAY IT FORWARD” project to the students at the school & distributed their brochures..
Next day & since we have chosen green to define ourselves and our mission, the whole school was wearing green ; teachers, students and even the school’s principle just to show their support to the Good Deeds project ..
Around 9 AM students from the future elementary school at age of 6, marched into the school and were welcomed by iEARN girls. they went to the school yard where a special place was set for them .. the purpose of the project was delivered to them by the art teachers at Al Hoora School and right away they started to make beautiful paintings that served the case.. as a reward kids had a great chocolate experience with the girls selling chocolate Fondue- mini cakes dipped into hot melted chocolate- raising money for donation..
Other students started to come and gather around and started to write on the flip board -that we’ve called good deeds sheet-a brief explanation of their actions and how they affected themselves and the people they’ve helped.. the purpose was to enforce the idea that good deeds cause a chain reaction just like the movie “PAY IT FORWARD” & that The good deed does not have to be big and expensive for someone to appreciate it. Just making someone elses day makes the giver feel good too. hopefully we were able to instill in our students a sense of good deeds & community service with those little acts..
Kids and the students had fun that day and that was really my icing on my cake.. I would like to acknowledge all the students who participated in making this event a success.. thank you all :))
