Listen to Your Students a Little More

Listening to our students a little more. There are teachers who forgot to listen the students'stories, learning difficulties and even personal problems.

Reduce Teacher Talking Time is a Good Deed, indeed!!!

Goog Deeds from Al-khalili School in Oman

A group of students from AL-Khalili school from Oman - Nizwa visited about 60 sick children aged of new born to 8 years old. First the were welcomed by the in charge of the hospital Saad AL-Hadhrami. Then they met the children and sat with them for a short time playing with them and sharing good time with them. Next the gave each children a nice gift to enter the happiness and pleasure into their hearts. It was great moments in deed they saw the nice smiles in their faces and their moms' faces as well. After that the left the hospital with tears because the saw very scary sights in all hospital's wards especially children wards.

Before the leave the in charge of the hospital gave the students some information about the hospital such as, when it was built, the number of staff in the hospital, the number of beds and so on. Finally students left the hospital and returned it their school.

Helping the Poor Cleaners - Oman

It is winter now and the weather is cold, therefore, we decided to help the poor workers and cleaners in the school who always come from the early morning to work and clean the school. The students asked to buy gloves for them or make them a cup of tea to keep warm. So, next day the students served them some tea in the morning and they were very glad.

Good Deeds in AL-Ajyal A'Saeeda School - Oman

We shared the social worker in our school in the donation box to help poor and orphan people. We told our students about the box and to whom we will give the money that we all will collect. They accepted the idea and they asked us to give some of the money for Palestinians too.

Next day a boy of iEARN immediately came to us and said that he is ready to donate today. I took him to the donation box which has the symbol of iEARN (Good Deeds) project and I asked him to put his money in. I took a photo and I thanked him a lot.

here is the photo. He has already put the money in before I took the photo.

More Good Deeds from Oman & GD Cards

Dear all,

In this topic, Teacher Faiza and me Teacher Marwah will post all our students' work here.

We started the second meeting for our students in which we distributed some work to each student to do but they can all do it together too. We asked about their ideas and they came with wonderful and great ideas of good deeds. They seem that they understood the project well.

As we are going to do some work inside and outside the school, other teachers and families should know who we are (students + teachers), therefore, we designed cards for our students to wear whenever they do good deeds and whenever we go to do good deeds.

Here are some photos of the meeting and the cards we distributed among the students of iEARN.

More photos and work will be posted here in this topic. I will update it always.

Hope you like them.

Helping Earthquake victims in Sumatra

Speaking about Good Deeds in a real life situation, one week ago. The students' organization in my school donated a number of money to the victims of earthquake disaster in Sumatra Island, Indonesia. They have collected every cent of money from the students and other school staffs, and sent it through a certain institution to be delivered to the victims.

We, who live in Java Island didn't get much effect from the earthquake when it happened (we just felt a little trembling, but still it was shocking us). The point is that from joining Good Deeds Projects my students' awareness to help and share with others has been increasing. Thank you once again for inviting us to participate in this project.

Honesty Counts

My name Siti Haifa. I’m from Senior High School 1 Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. I want to tell you about my experience.

Someday I went to go to Gramedia Book Store for buying some books. But, the books which I searched for couldn’t be found. So, I just read some books there and went back home using public bus. Along the way, a little street singer entered the bus. He sang with heart. After singing, he asked for some money to all passengers. I felt so pity on him; I wanted to give more money to him, but small money I had only five hundred rupiahs. Although I only gave him Rp500.00, I hoped it could be useful for him. Then, he got out of the bus, and the bus moved again. After that, I got off at Departement Store, because I wanted to buy a present for my friend. I bought some books and letter. Then, I went home.

At home, I checked the bill. Actually, the book with the price Rp 5000,00,- has not paid yet by me because it was not counted by the cashier. My god ! I felt that book was not legal for me, I couldn’t use that book, but I thought maybe it was a response from Allah because I gave money to a little street singer in the bus. If that was true, the response was ten doubled. Subhanallah, but I still feel worried, although it wasn’t caused by me, but I should have paid that book. Cause I wouldn’t use illegal goods.

Lastly, someday I returned back to the book store and paid that book. Ffuhh,, I felt relieved because that book was legal for me then, and I could use it.

The message I could get from my experience was that we could spend our money (even in a bit number) for goodness; God surely would give us double in return. If not, it would be paid in the after life later. I hope all people in the world would share their money with poor people, because the money we got was not completely ours, some of them belonged to the poor.

My Friend Fahmi

Hi, Guys! I’m Galuh Nisa. I’m student from Senior High School 1, Bogor, Indonesia. Let me tell you about one true story that happened in my life. And this story really changed my mind, which before was too underestimate the power of support and spirit. Now, check this out!

When I was in Junior High School, at the last year, one of my schoolmates got a very seriously sick. His name is Fahmi. Based on the doctor’s diagnose, Fahmi got lupus. He was infected by this disease when he was in the second year. Slowly but sure, Lupus made his body weak. When we would face UAN (Ujian Akhir Nasional) – national examination to decide the students in Junior High School graduated or not, Fahmi collapsed. He had to take several treatments in hospital. Everyday, Fahmi’s condition got worse. He started to face kidney failure. He should have blood cleaning once a day. His foot got swell because the water in his body couldn’t get out. He seemed very pale and became very thin.

All of us thought that Fahmi wouldn’t survive. Although he could go through his sickness, he wouldn’t pass Junior High School exam because he couldn’t go to school and studied. But, Fahmi kept holding on. He did the homework and tasks, copied the n ote, and tried to keep up the lesson. Because of his amazing enthusiasm to struggle and followed UAN, all of his friends supported him. They told about funnies event in the school, cheered him up, taught him the lesson, etc. They always visited Fahmi after the school. All of that made Fahmi felt happy and strong. He ignored his sickness and just thought about UAN. In his mind, he just wanted to graduate from Junior High School. For six months, Fahmi had been hospitallized. And, surprisingly, Fahmi passed the UAN, and could enter the Senior High School, with good result.

That was my story, and as I said before, Fahmi’s life story could change my point of view and opened my mind. He and his friends showed me that although we had a very hard problem in our life, we must struggle and face it. We can’t run away. Because if we run away, the problem will follow us until we die. And, another lesson that I get is never underestimate the power of support. Support not only can make us happy and feel strong to survive, but also show us that we’re not alone. And finally support can open our mind, that many people in this world faced the same problem, even their problem sometimes worse than us.

Last but not least, I know Lupus will always be in Fahmi’s body, and he can’t have a normal life for a long time. But, I’m sure with the development of medical science, sooner or later it can be invented the medicine of Lupus and cured Fahmi.

The Crowded Bus

Assalamualaikum,wr.wb . . Hi. . . My name is Astri Wiraswany. I am Indonesian. I study at senior high of one Bogor (SMAN 1 Bogor). Let me tell you my good deeds.

Once upon a time, I went to school later than before. At that time, I went to school at 06.00. That’s later fifteen minutes than before. I usually went to school at 05.45. I usually took a small public car to school but my mother asked me to take a bus. She said that it was faster than a public car. Then I obeyed her.

The bus was very crowded, that I didn’t get a chair to sit. Standing in a bus made my foot painful. Then, passengers got off one by one. Finally, I got a chair for sitting. I sat while reading the lesson book, because there was an exam. Then, I was wondering if I came late or not to school.

After ten minutes, there was a woman with her baby took the same bus with me. There was no empty chair, meanwhile her baby didn’t stop his crying. And I saw them mercily. Then I got up from my chair and asked the woman to sit on the chair. She thanked and gave a smile to me. Then I smiled at her too.

Although my foot felt painful but I felt happy to help them. I remembered my mother. My painful foot was nothing than the struggle of that woman and my mother for giving their child a birth and brought them up patiently.

My Two Little Swans

One day, my swan had seven eggs. I was really surprised for it. It was the first time my swan laid eggs since they arrived here. I waited and waited. After two months, two of seven eggs became a swan. I was so glad to see them. So I gave those two little swans names, Phill and Paul. As you could think, I hardly remembered which one was Phill or Paul. But it didn’t matter. I always gave them a half plate of rice and a pail of fresh water all day. They were my pity.

Several days after that, when I got home from the school, I could not find either Phill or Paul. I thought they hided in shrubs, but they weren’t there. So I gave up, but I really wanted to know where they were at that time. When I checked one more time, I was really surprised. I found Paul in the pond. He drowned until his neck. I took him to the ground. He looked weak and brittle. When I looked at pond again, I was surprised again. Phill was drowning all of his body. I knew he would not be able to be sa ved. His body was freezinge like an ice. I was so sad. So my brother buried Phill near a jackfruit tree. I could not stand to see it. It was so sadden.

Firstly, Paul was really weak. After several months, Paul could live with another swan. When I checked him with his mother, I made a mistake. She was a female! So I changed her name became Pauline. She was a beautiful swan, like her mother, Will, brightly white swan. Although I just had one a new swan, but I really thanked to God. I hoped Phill’s soul could be accepted in-His side. Amen.

My Angry Teacher

My name is Stefanus Jagad, and I study at Senior High School 1 Bogor, Indonesia. I had an experience which I want to share. I had a very mean teacher in my junior high school.A lot of students regarded her as a “killer” teacher and they were afraid of her. She taught me in the 9th grade. Actually, I hoped I could get another teacher when I realized she would teach me for a year. But there was no other choice instead of facing it. She was about 60 years old.

She was very mean and she was always angry when she came to my class. She didn’t care we did the right or wrong things. No matter what, everything was false in her eyes. Some students didn’t like her, neither did I. But it changed one day.

It was Valentine’s Day and my school celebrated the lovely day. I got a lot of chocolates from my friends. After the school ended, I was planning to go to the canteen to meet my friends. On my way there, I saw my “mean” teacher walked alone. I didn’t remember wh at I was thinking that time, but I called and greeted her spontaneously. After a short conversation I gave her one of my chocolate. I said “Happy Valentine Ma’am,” and what a surprise! She gave me the most beautiful smile that I’d never seen from her before. Her face changed and she looked younger a lot of years. I was so happy to see her. And after that day, she became better and better. She often smiled and she was seldom angry at us. I thanked God because of a chocolate, I could change a person.

More Good Deeds from Bahrain

As a student who worked in “Good deeds” I will take this opportunity to briefly outline my experience during my two year tenure at “Good deeds, as I think that this project helps to spread the spirit of giving and sharing between all kinds of people.

Our main goal was helping sick and disabled children by providing them with our continuous support to free them from their sufferings. Firstly, we went to “Salmaniya medical complex“ and specifically to Pediatrics department, were we provided the children with many gifts planting joy in their small hearts and making us even happier in return.

Our second step was the charity day at school , we were divided into two groups , the first group was selling toys which were donated by our school students and the second group was to draw on students t-shirt , and the profit was given to those inflicted with down syndrome. However, we did many good deeds in our school including planting our school garden and other community services that we achieved in different departments at school.

I believe that working in “good deeds “project was an eye opening experience and an amazing opportunity which made me realize how little deeds we do ..

Good Deeds as the Mainstream

Dear Ismail

I would like first to thank you for your great project and the tremendously achieved deeds and the philanthropy that you and your students chose to foster. It is a great pride to iEARN community to have you among us and pace these gigantic steps towards perfection. It is my pleasure to thank you again and hope you more success.

To my great appreciation I found many positive aspects in this project. To start with I shall mention the altruist target and the obvious goal of keeping students conscience alive. Added to the courageously implemented vision and the philanthropic effort.

Indeed I think we share some of the same perspectives about good deeds and the altruist projects in general. Thus we may meet in so many points and have identical views. I know that the world could be changed by slightly paced steps. I believe also that your efforts to open the frontiers of learning in class to a wider day to day life class room where studen ts could learn from their interactivity and positive thought and additive tangible deeds

All those field visits and the campaigns are a great success with everlasting influence they are not only your students new gains the success I am glad to say is ours it is thanks to sharing them via iEARN forums and software announcement that all I earners will have an idea about how a world can be changed how a small plant can thrive bloom and spread the branches and gives shade over wider spaces and teaches new generations such good habits and faith that there is a brighter angles to the world.

I allow my self the chance to ask you about the secret of this success and how had it come to your mind the idea of launching such an enormous project with great motivation? And were there real obstacles and challenges? And how come that you overcame them? About your future prospect do you think that good deeds will be sooner the mainstream and notorious deeds only the exc eption ?

Please keep in touch and tell us about your recent deeds

Thanks again and welcome to collaborate like any positive iEARNERS should do

Teachers as Role Models

Hi Gioko,

I hope you are doing well with your project.
I like so much your ‘Good Deeds’ project. Certainly, it’s a splendid and noble dedication to carry out this wonderful project. In fact, I believe this is a significant "good deeds" initiative for the benefit of all the humanity. As you mentioned before, living in this egocentric and materialistic world, any good deed, be it small or big, is of an intrinsic value, there is so much to do to make our world a place for better living. Children should learn how to behave in ways that show care, brotherhood, mercy and sacrifice towards the other. They, also, should be involved in various activities to reflect upon their deeds.

I think that we, as teachers, have so many things to do to instill in our students good behaviors. Most of the students take us as their models. Thus, it is compulsory for us to be responsible, show respect, help incessantly, treat equally, advise nicely, show compassion, and say nice words… to induce students to do likewise.

I try together with o ther teachers in our high school to make students aware of the importance of all ‘Good Deeds’. We work in the school club on themes like civic conduct inside and outside the school, classmates’ relationships, poverty, voluntary work, and so on, in order to sensitize students to the fact that every good deed they do counts and can bring positive changes around.

Still, I always raise questions about what’s going on locally and globally in the world. How come that we haven’t yet been able to do good things to the people who suffer everywhere? Why do people still do not care when it comes to environmental issues?

For sure, if we help student to understand that every good deed is valuable, we can bring fabulous changes to our world. Isn’t it?

I wish you good luck with your project.

A Small Drop Runs a River

It really showed how a simple deed would change society to the better. By involving students in that project, they are made to live the reality of villages. They also learn about their conditions by contact. They is no mediator between them. By combining inside and outside the classroom, you have succeeded in encouraging your students to take part in porgrammes that will improve their community.

I am doing the same with my class these days. We are having a two-week fund raising to help abandoned women in nursery homes. My students paid them a visit and inquired about their needs. Thus we tried to convince students, teachers and administrative staff to take part , too. My students and I are collecting anything that can help relieve the pain of those women.

I do believe that by exchanging and sharing such experiences, other people would take part, too. It is just a simple thing. Be ready to sacrifice one’s time for the benefit of others. Moreover, when iearners read your participation, they would certainly look around them for needy people or dirty streets or just visit hospitals. They would support the sick whose families are away by visiting them from time to time and start chatting with them to boost their morale.

Yet, a lot of questions rose up : How can we convince people to take part in such projects ? Why do people fight only for their rights and they are not ready to fulfill their obligations ? When will people understand that good deeds can save them, their families and society as a whole ? When will people be convinced that a small drop and a small drop can run a river? Why can not educated people give good examples to start doing good deeds ?

Once again, I am grateful to you and iEARN for giving me the floor to express myself and share with you my experience.

Stay well and keep on good deeds.

More Good Deeds from USA

lets face the facts, there is a lot of pollution :frown: . well guess what? you can help stop pollution by riding your bike, picking up trash and recycling. how did you help stop pollution today?

do you turn off the lights when the sun is coming through?
do you have a recycling bin?(school or home)
do you bring a reusable lunch contianer?
Do you Break your pencil?
do you use compost bins?(school or home)
Do you use cloth bags for grocerys?
do you use both sides of a paper?
do you use the same water bottles some days in a row?
when you think of a good deed, what do you think of?
do you use glass cups?
do you erase your mistakes instead of scratching them out?

Good Deeds in Kenya

On February 5th a total of 39 diploma student went to a slum in Bombolulu for deworming exercise. The diploma students undergo an introductory session in research. This is in preparation to the 40 hrs extended essay which is they do for their diploma. This year the students were doing a CAS exercise of deworming children in Bombolulu, Mombasa. As part of the preparation for the research the students were taken through an introductory workshop on research skills. They then had a weekly meeting where we undertook different parts of the research. The students in groups decided to do an impact study on the deworming exercise.

In the deworming exercise there two major things done they include education and deworming. We have an education session where the children are taught about worms and how to avoid them. There is also the Deworming exercise where the children are given medicine under the watchful eye of a medic.

The impact study covered areas of awareness, repeat visits, outreach and current practice at home. In awareness it the student looked at the sources and level of information about worms by the residents of the village. Repeat visits looked at how many people come back for the deworming exercise (this was the 6th event). The outreach looked at the people coming for the deworming what was there integration in relation to gender, age, occupational and place of stay. The current practice theme looked at how they handle themselves hygienically with respect to keeping worms at bay.

The research teams worked in group and really enjoyed the data collection exercise. I remember meeting Geoffrey and he shared “sir with this data one can write a whole extended essay”. I meet with an exhausted Yasin who shared “Sir, I did not think that research is tough, but I really enjoyed it”. That was in reference to the data collection session.
The data collection sessions was actively done by all the members. Subsequently we shall be working on the organization, analysis and discussion. Finally we shall come up with a report on the impact study. This is an approach of the core team working in collaboration that is CAS and EE.

Good deeds are things we can do every day. confused? For instance sometimes I help my mom. I also help my friends with school work. You can do all sorts of things to help people. You can help the environment, too. You can plant trees or pick up trash.

Tell me your good deeds. i would love to know what you have done to help.:)

He doesn‘t say ”dear Mummy”

I was invited to read this new blog initiated by a mother of a disabled child. She is wonderfully uses her new blog to describe her feelings and actions while dealing with her dear son. It also gives us all an opportunity to contemplate and think for a minute about others around us. There are many things in life that we can't realize, and there are others we can't describe.. It is a virtue and a gift to have senses to see, feel, hear, and think of everything around you..

I leave you now to read this blog entry. You can find it in other languages in the main blog website: http://onlararamizda.wordpress.com

He doesn‘t say ”dear Mummy”

Today is Mothers Day
I am a mother, too.
But my son doesn‘t congratulate me
Doesn‘t hug and kiss me
Doesn‘t collect flowers and let me smell
He doesn‘t say ”dear Mummy”

Yet, I have worked so hard for him
Cleaned him for years
Didn‘t eat when he couldn‘t eat
Didn‘t sleep when he couldn‘t sleep
Stayed with him when he was ill
He doesn‘t say "dear Mummy".

My child can‘t speak
Can‘t play like his peers
Can‘t eat alone.
Can‘t get up when he falls down
My child is disabled
He can‘t say ”dear Mummy“.

Good Deeds Goes Green in Bahrain!

On the morning of Thursday 20th of November, me and my team of iEARN started our first event & our first project ever..a day before my students presented the "PAY IT FORWARD" project to the students at the school & distributed their brochures..

Next day & since we have chosen green to define ourselves and our mission, the whole school was wearing green ; teachers, students and even the school's principle just to show their support to the Good Deeds project ..

Around 9 AM students from the future elementary school at age of 6, marched into the school and were welcomed by iEARN girls. they went to the school yard where a special place was set for them .. the purpose of the project was delivered to them by the art teachers at Al Hoora School and right away they started to make beautiful paintings that served the case.. as a reward kids had a great chocolate experience with the girls selling chocolate Fondue- mini cakes dipped into hot melted chocolate- raising money for donation..

Other students started to come and gather around and started to write on the flip board -that we've called good deeds sheet-a brief explanation of their actions and how they affected themselves and the people they've helped.. the purpose was to enforce the idea that good deeds cause a chain reaction just like the movie "PAY IT FORWARD" & that The good deed does not have to be big and expensive for someone to appreciate it. Just making someone elses day makes the giver feel good too. hopefully we were able to instill in our students a sense of good deeds & community service with those little acts..

Kids and the students had fun that day and that was really my icing on my cake.. I would like to acknowledge all the students who participated in making this event a success.. thank you all :))

Blood Donation at the HCTMC in Dubai

I came across this community service event while attneding a conference at the MC in Dubai. It was very nice seeing several students and staff sitting their waiting for their turns to donate their blood. Personally speaking, I consider human translantiation and blood donations of the most noble and humane ways of helping others where you don't only give the 'extra' money or some support, but also you 'sacrifice' a part of your very precious health for the safety and sake of someone else. These people deserve all types of respect and appreciation by people and the community.

Wish love and appreciation..

Good Deeds T-shirts, SMS messages, and more from Bahrain

My students at Al Hoora girls Secondary School have shown some excellent job since we've decided to adopt Good Deeds as our school theme. My team will have their own T-shirts with iEARN Good Deeds’ slogan printed on it.. We've been texting students on their mobiles quotes related to the project..

A presentation will be held next week of how one can change the world with simple good deeds.. Moreover one of my students has prepared a brochure to introduce other students to the project, which led to have more new girls coming over and asking me whether its not too late to join the team, and of course I said “hey its never late to join Good Deeds..”

Today's Run!

Today's run was an exciting experience for many people who dedicate their time and efforts to help others. This way, the help was done by raising people's awareness about the risks of women's breast cancer disease. Raising fund and donating money for this yearly initiative is also an important aspect in this competitive race with more than 1500 participants this year in three 1K, 5K, and 10K competitions!! Well done!

Although being the 6th or 7th didn't qualify me for an award, I'm sending few pictures from the race :-(

A quote about this event;
We would like to begin our campaign this year by acknowledging the people who contributed extra effort by participating in some of the events like the “Pink Day Photo Contest” and “TawamTeam Spirit Contest” from last year. They added that little something that makes every event memorable and added to the success of the 1st Annual Run/Walk, we appreciate it. With your help and participation this year’s event will be bigger and better! So please join us and show your spirit, wear pink, eat pink cake, register for the race, form a team with your friends and colleagues, challenge them and most of all have fun!!
Have fun!

57357 Cancer Hospital Invitation

Happy new academic year and Ramadan to all our members and readers, I would like to share a message of invitation in both English and Arabic which I have received from http://www.57357.com cancer hospital in Egypt this week. Hope you could help..

------------------------------------------------
We will always be grateful for your wonderful support and encouragement and it is in your company that we we wish to celebrate the start of this holy season. As such, we invite you to visit the premises to share with us the pride and blessings of having contributed

to this noble endeavor. Hospital 57357 was built by you and a multitude of other friends in Egypt and around the world for you and for them, that is why, from the simple perspective of your ownership of this project, it is only natural that you would be concerned for its on-going success and the accomplishment of its vision, mission and goals.

If you happen to live abroad, maybe one way of actively interacting with us is to talk about the project to five of your closest friends and relatives who would be also interested in supporting us. You might prefer to send us directly their E-mails and phone or mobile numbers so that we establish a contact with them. You must have realized by now that we are badly in need of continuous support and increasing the number of donors if we want to secure an excellent comprehensive care and treatment , free of charge , for a growing number of children with cancer. We have estimated the yearly cost of running operations at the CCHE 57357 to be L.E.150 million. This amount is liable to increase steadily as we expect a steady increase in the number of sick children with cancer from all across Egypt and from the Arab countries.

Since the start of operations in July 7, 2007 at the hospital, and in the course of over one year we have received and treated over 25% of children with cancer in Egypt, totally free of charge. A good number of them have completed their treatment at the hospital and have resumed their normal lives. With the expected running of the hospital at full capacity and the opening of all remaining departments this year, it is estimated that the number of cases received and treated will rise to 50% of the expected total number of children with cancer in Egypt which is estimated at 8500 per year. Also, within our clear mission of serving as a magnet of care and exchanging knowledge with other healthcare institutions within both our immediate external Arab community and internationally, the hospital has received 70 cancer cases from our sister Arab countries namely Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

The administration was keen since the project's inception to always adopt international quality standards in all aspects, such as design, sanitation, infection control, training, organization, treatment protocols. It also firmly believes that all sick children regardless of their background are equal in receiving the best comprehensive quality care offered free of charge by the hospital. Our ultimate objective is to increase cure rates from the present 40-45% in Egypt to 80-85% as in the developed world. This is no more a dream but a hope in a brighter future for our sick children with cancer and their families which they deserve and for which we will always work hand in hand to make a reality.

Best regards,

Friendship with Disabled Students

More information about our elementary students friendship with disabled students from the specialized school # 86.

On May 20, 2008 40 elementary school students went to the trip around the most famous place in Ferghana region, Kokand town, a place of ruling the last Ferghana Region King (XV111-X1X centuries). Before the trip our students together with the disabled students made a research on history of the most famous places in Ferghana Region – the birth place of local ceramics – Rishtan, and traditional silk fabric “ATHLAS” – Margilan, the palace of the last Ferghana Regional King Khudoyar-Khan, etc. Students parents helped to find and organize information for presentations. The best presentation was about Kokand town, that’s why we decided to start our historical trips with Kokand. We visited Khudoyar-Khan Palace, Local Art Museum and have learned a lot about traditions and culture of our motherland. Especially important was that our friends from the specialized school # 86 were with us. Because themselves they couldn’t visit such interesting historical places

They defined and discussed pluses and minuses of modern progress, Ferghana regional ecological problems and were thinking of what we should do to protect our nature and help our regional ecology. For the lesson the students prepared
their pictures where they expressed their opinion on the future of their motherland. After the lesson all the participants together planted flowers (daisies) in the yard of the school and in the streets of local Makhallya “Shadiyana”. Finally. The students draw pictures on the ground of their school about the future of of Nature in our city, our country and our world. Also group of 9-graders presented their experience of helping old people from their community (makhallya “Shodiana”).
Working in 5 groups, students developed their own plan of helping and supporting old people of their makhallya. And during the April 22-26 week they made a list of lonely old people who need help and support. Students-volunteers visited old people at homes, cleaned their yards, rooms, helped with shopping in the market, cooked food. It was a real help to real people.

Learn about Disabilities

Working with the Special Olympics is a great way to get involved with the community. Not only do you gain a sense of accomplishment, but you get to learn about various physical and mental disabilities. As teachers, it is important to learn about various disabilities because they will be in the general classroom.

Ideas from KSU

Since gas prices are going up and people are finding drugs in the water system many Americans are trying to find a way to help the earth without changing to much. There are list of things on the internate and the news such as: going the speed limit while driving, not flushing every time people go #1 in the bathroom, be careful about how people dispose of waste, and of course recycling. The U.S. seems to make this a mission, but i know other people around the world are too. so i was wondering what people from different countries are doing? anything different?

Re: Teaching Good Deeds

I think teaching good deeds to young children is a great idea. I myself want to teach my students when I have a classroom of my own about good deeds and things we can do to change the world or even our community. I think teaching kids while they are young about good deeds is a great idea and then they can use the skills they learened as they get older and maybe make a big difference for their community or the world one day!

Good Deeds in Indonesia

"One of IEARN’s projects “GOOD DEEDS" attracts my interest. There are so many little things we can do and they can be regarded as good deeds. I can inform my students about this. “GOOD DEEDS" are around us, even at school. Keeping everything clean, throwing rubbish or even used candies plastics into dustbin are among good deeds, so simple! “GOOD DEEDS" is in harmony with my school effort to create a nice, friendly and clean environment."

It is a pleasure announcing the first issue of Bahrain Good Deeds brochure from Al-Ma'rifa Secondary School in Bahrain. Ameera says about the project and her team,

"We began working on the good deeds project last semester and my students did a wonderful brochure to distribute in the school about the importance of good deeds and how how religion encourages it. I'm still having trouble unloading it here.

We are planning on holding a campaign in of promoting acts of kindness this semester and started it by the morning assembly and many more ideas.

My students are really enjoying the project and come up with new ideas every week."

GCE Students Promote Community Service As Part of Islam

Six GCE students at the Al Ma’arifa Secondary Girls School have put together a brochure promoting community service and emphasizing its important place in Islam as part of the Good Deeds project.

The Good Deeds project encourages students to make the world a little bit better th
rough small acts of kindness. They then share the stories of their good works in the iEARN online forums and learn from reading about the good deeds of their peers from around the world. The project aims to create proactive citizens who are able to serve their community, country, and the world in a positive and dynamic way.

The brochure devotes a panel to the emphasis given to community service in Islam, from the many Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad to the rewards promised to those who do good deeds. As the students point out, the rewards to be expected are spiritual in nature.

The brochure also suggests some ways that people can serve their community and points out the advantages of community service to society as a whole as well as the individual involved.

Indonesia: Small Steps to Do a Great Good Deed

Hi, every body! My name is Ayun, one of the students of Senior High School 1 Bogor, Indonesia. When my teacher informed my class about this project, I was so enthusiastic to join it. It is a great pleasure to me to share my experience and to know more about other people experiences in the world about it. Everyone has a good side, so it's very usual if all people in the world do good deeds, even just small things. For example, when I see trash on the class floor, I throw it to the bin.

May be that deed is just a simple thing but if we don't do it, there will be a great danger waiting for us like flood (it happens now in many island in Indonesia). So let's do many good deeds. Just remember, a person can make a difference! That's all, I hope this can inspire others, especially my fellow students in Indonesia!

AYUN ERWINA,
INDONESIA

Indonesia: My Brother and I

A good deed is like a train.
Once you do it, the other will follow...

My name is Bella. I live in Bogor and the student of 12th grade Senior High School 1 Bogor. I would share a good deed that I had experienced, so simple but it built a deep impression to me.

About 3 months ago, my little brother was seriously ill. Something wrong happened in his stomach. The doctor decided to do a surgery to him and it's done successfully. My mother and my elder brother accompanied him in the hospital every day, but I had to go to school by myself.
For the first time in my life, I went to school by train. So I had to wake up earlier (at 05.00 AM) in order to catch the first train. Sometimes I had to stand up because there's no empty seat to sit. My friends asked me,"Don't you get tired because of it?". Undoubtedly I said,"No, I enjoy it, eventhough I had to to school earlier and went home late, I just enjoy it!". Well, I did it because I love my brother. I'll do everything for him.

After one month, everything has been back to be normal again. Suddenly my brother gave me a gift that he bought . He said he gave it as a big thank for me. I'm so happy because he has been recovered.

CLARABELLA,

Indonesia: Simple Good Deed in the Bus

My name is Indhie Hanifah and I live in Serpong, but I study in Senior High School 1 Bogor. One day, I wanted to go to Bogor by bus. I was sitting in the bus when the old lady got into the bus and stood beside me. She looked tired, so I gave my seat to her. I knew I would be tired but I was happy because I have done something good.

A few weeks later, when I went to Bogor from Serpong by bus again, I had no seat, and I had to stand up in the crowded bus until the bus arrived in Bogor, it was a long and bad journey. I started to get sick. Suddenly, there was a man who gave me his seat because I might look pale. I will never forget his favor, and I had an impression that if we help other, some day we'll need other people's help, it'll come. Trust me.

Good Deeds in Uzbekistan

Dear friends,

our English teacher Nargiza Hasanova and her students continue their work on "Good Deeds' project.

Character Counts in Canada

Janeville Elementary School has undertaken a character education project that focuses on the six Pillars of Character of the Character Counts initiative of the Josephson Institute of Ethics in California . Each month one pillar is the focus of an introductory school-wide assembly, discussed in individual classrooms and is highlighted in morning announcements.

Each student is then tasked to find a specific example during the month when they displayed the featured characteristic and to write about it. This example is signed by both the student and a parent and brought to school. Students who return the signed examples are rewarded with a bracelet inscribed with the featured pillar to be worn as a reminder of the importance of having good character. We want to share our stories because we know that if we all displayed the pillars of good character we would be able to “Change the World”.

In the month of November we learned about being trustworthy. This means that we are honest, we tell the truth, we keep promises and secrets and we are loyal so people can trust us. Trustworthy people don’t lie, steal or cheat. They have the courage to do the right thing and to stand up for what they believe even when it is hard to do.

The following are examples of how students at Janeville Elementary School were trustworthy:

Kindergarten Students

Arianna: “I told Mommy the truth about my time outs.”

Jacob: “I watched my little sister for my mom in our living room while she folded laundry and cooked our supper.”

Colby: “One of my friends told me a secret and I never told any-one.”

Taylor: “I kept a secret from mommy about her Christmas gift.”

Grade One Students

Allyson: “I told the truth when Mommy asked me questions about putting water on my goop and also when I told Mommy that I watched TV already that day.”

Taylor : “I promised my mom I would help keep my room clean and make my bed.”

Jack: “I took care of my dog when my mom was away. I helped my dad when my mom was away.”

Sydney: “I played cards with my Mom and I did not cheat. I followed the rules. Playing a game is a good way to practice being trustworthy.”

Cody: “I didn’t push Breanna into her bed. Daddy trusted me to go over to Nanny’s.”

Sheradin: “I kept a secret of the present for my cousin’s birthday.”

Grade Two Students

Tiffany: “My mom trusted me to feed the fish and my cat.”

Matthew: “This month I was trustworthy because I helped out with my baby brother when my mom needed me.”

Nathan: “I kept a promise to mommy to behave properly in church. I haven’t stolen anything ever or cheated.”

Jesse: “I promised to make a Titanic picture for my friend and I did it for my friend.”

Rebecca: “I was told a secret and I kept it.”

Brett: I lost my glasses and I told mom and dad instead of hiding it.”

Jacob: “I tell my mom the truth when I do something wrong.”

Alexa: I gave my mummy the change from the hairdresser when I got my hair cut with my nanny.”

Grade Three Students

Dwayne: “I helped my mom with the groceries and put them away and I did.”

Spencer: “My mom trusted me to feed my dog.”

Shelby: I promised my mom that I would not cry about going to Mimi’s on Friday when I really didn’t want to go.”

Jordan J.: “I helped mom. My mom and dad were sick with the flu. I was very trustworthy, she said, by helping her do things and keeping Jared out of trouble.”

Grade Four Students

Brittany: “Every weekend when I go to my grandmother’s house, she goes somewhere and I take care of her dog. I feed the dog, walk her and she goes to use the washroom outside. That’s what I do for my grandma.”

Ashlyn: “I told my friends that I would play with them next recess because I was playing with my other friends this recess. That’s why I am trustworthy at school and at home. I said what I was going to do.”

Darian: My friend Alesha called and said that she was throwing a party for our friend

Ariana. I was going to call her but Alesha said not to tell her about the party. I did not and she had a big surprise at the party.”

James: “I told my Grampy that I would go to the store with him and I went with him.”

Jordan H.: “I accidentally broke a window and I told my parents and I paid for a new window.”

Grade Five Students

Ian: “I took my dog for a walk because my mom asked me to when she went on a vacation and I said yes. He really needed to go for a walk. I said I would take care of my brother and I did.”

Samantha: “I was helping Jenni and Grace with taking down the bulletin boards. I could have left them to do it by them selves but I stayed t help them instead.”

Jenni: “I always did my homework on time when my mother asked me to. I was asked to look after all our parcels so mom could go in a small store. That was how I was a trustworthy person.”

Grace: “I found money at the store. My mom asked me if the money was mine and I said no and gave it to the person that had lost it.”

Kelly: I went over to my neighbour’s house and my mom told me to be back by 6:45 and I promised her I would be home by 6:45 and at 6:45 I was home.

Christina: “My mom trusts me to look after Connor when she goes to get a bath or check the fire so that is how I know what trustworthy is.”

Good Deeds in Uzbekistan

Animals of Africa and Uzbekistan

one of my colleague Nargiza Khasanova, a teacher of English in school 40 "Parvoz" (that means "flight") has joined to the project together with her elementary school children (2-4 graders) and their parents. They prepared an activity "Animals of Africa and Uzbekistan" for orphans in Ferghana regional orphanage. Students prepared oral presentations with posters and their parents conducted a funny quiz about animals. Also the students demonstrated a concert show and took part in the drawing competition together with children from the orphanage.

Nov. & Dec. Character Trait

Our Elementary School is big on Character Education. Our character Trait for November and December is Compassion, so we have been talking with students about what caring about others and what “good deed” we could do to help others.

This led to the food drive for the local food bank in November.
And now we have a toy drive for children in hospital. The students bring new toys that will be donated to sick children.

Re: Teaching Good Deeds

Nowadays most of us lost our feeling .Caring our surrounding or others seem to be a legend or a strange thing, because we are so busy with the world business for our own need.Sometimes we forget that the real life is not here.Really good lesson for me " Good Deed". So that I told my students if they want to join this project. They are really enthusiastic. My students are about 13 -15 years.By the way, I am a teacher of senior high school in pekanbaru, Indonesia.

This morning , I entered the class showing this project.I gave them about 30 minutes to go out from the class and observe what can they do as a good deed around the school. Then they made the reports. There are so many little things that affect the great benefits.

Crisis in Bangladesh!

By now you are aware about the devastation of hurricane SIDR which took away around 3,500 lives (as roughly counted up to 20.11.2007, the figure is raising daily) and damaged all most all the properties of the people in the south, south-western coastal parts of Bangladesh. The damages are not repairable. Nevertheless, to help mitigate the sufferings of the affected people and to assist them in their survival YES-alumni Bangladesh & Bangladesh Education and Resource Network (bEARN)/iEARN-Bangladesh have taken a decision to distribute relief in the form of food grains. In this solemn venture YES-alumni members are raising funds. Also bEARN will participate by donating money in their efforts.

A team of 10 members consisting of YES-alumni and bEARN staff will physically go to Patuakhali district, southern part of Bangladesh and worse affected area in the SIDR, on 21st November 2007 to distribute relief and to console the people there in their time need. The team will purchase 2& ½ metric tons of rice and ½ metric ton pulse which will be distributed amongst the affected people at Patuakhali.
For information, this is not the end. We will take some more drives to raise funds from available sources and later distribute them in suitable forms. In this respect we would appreciate any kind of cooperation and assistance in our humanitarian services from any person & corner.

Re: Teaching Good Deeds

On the topic of good deeds, do you think the laws of life should be an encouragement for good deeds? You are rewarded for good deeds or you are punished? Should people do good deeds for personal satisfaction or for recognition? Are the laws of life fair as far as justifying what is good and what is bad? A person steals food to feed their family or someone who is hungry, is that a good or bad deed? A person gives money to a poor person to buy food, but in reality they are supporting that person's drug habit? Just some questions to ponder..

International Education Week!

Dear friends!!!!
We have joined your amazing project. I together with the students of whole school organized the fair of national dishes. Students presented their own chosen country and sold their dishes by books, stationary and by money. The received things were donated to orphans and physically disabled students. With the help of money we organized the resource center and bought TV set and DVD.
This Fair taught children to be kind and not to stay aside when someone need their help, and based on the education sphere students learned dishes of different nationalities and info about the countries.

Here are responses of my students:

Re: Teaching Good Deeds

I agree Good Deeds are contagious! As a pre-service teacher I hope to instill in my students a sense of good deeds/community service whether it be giving a pencil to a student who needs one, sending a letter to a soldier, letting someone in line at the grocery store go ahead of you, volunteering at a soup kitchen, or any other good deed to make someone smile. I believe a good deed can be anonymous or not. If we set an example for our students, they will follow.

Teaching Good Deeds

This project is great. I am a pre-service teacher and I just want to comment that good deeds should be taught in school as well as in the home. I hope to incorporate this into my classroom on a daily basis. I want my students to want to help others. I want them to understand that you don't have to be an adult or be rich to do a good deed. There are so many ways that students can help others, and it is the job of teachers (not just parents) to open their eyes to this information. I am interested to hear from any teachers who have suggestions on working this into the curriculum or classroom in general.

Lauren, KSU

Extremely Grateful

With all the horrible news we see on television, it is hard to believe that there are still good people out in the world. I have personally experienced good deeds being done for my family over the years and I see what an impact it can make on the receiver. My little bother needed braces several years ago and it was going to take a lot for my family to be able to pay for it. My parents worked and saved to pay for the braces. When my mother went to pay the down payment, she was told that someone had already taken care of everything and she would not have to worry about a thing. This took a load off of my family and we were extremely grateful. The office would not tell her who had done this and we never figured it out. As a thank you, my mother made a cake for the office to give to whoever paid for the braces (she makes the best cakes!)

A more recent situation happened to my sister and her husband. They were celebrating their three year anniversary this past month and went to eat at a nice restaurant in Atlanta. They had a wonderful dinner and when they asked for the check, the waitress said the couple that was sitting next to them paid for the whole meal.
Good deeds like these cause a chain reaction. Since my family has been blessed in so many ways from good deeds, we try to return the favor by performing good deeds for others anonymously.
I believe we do good deeds because we know there are people in the world that are not as well off as we are and everyone can use a pick-me-up every once in a while. The good deed does not have to be big and expensive for someone to appreciate it. Just making someone elses day makes the giver feel good too.

KEEP SMILING!!!!!

KEEP SMILING!!!!!

To cheer up a depressed

By whom pain is suppressed
Is a person of great virtue
Who makes life beautiful;
like the sky that is blue
One is the most skillful person
Who brings in life joy and fun
On each face, he who brings smiles
Even if happiness is on miles
Is a person of great virtue
who makes life beautiful;
Like the sky that is blue
Smiles in life are very essential
Because life is multidimensional
Sometimes it takes the dimension of sadness
And sometimes it is replete with happiness
But cherish in both conditions
Makes it easier to live in a nation
Thus I say, “Smile and make others’ smile”
“It will add happiness to your life’s file”.

Re: Visiting a Nursery School

My name is Grace Mulei from Kenya. It was a great pleasure when iEARN US prosed establishment of iEARN Kenya, and great to be a country Co-ordinator, for promotion of iEARN great concepts that unite the global citizen members.

It is a joy to learn about Ismail Fayed great project.” Good Deeds"
within which great joy is realized.

All the good things in life are resultant factors of good turns or good deeds. This is the most noble project to be appreciated and practiced by us all.

Please let me share this personal experience on the "Good Deeds" concept.

After retirement as a teacher, I decided to start a charitable organization, in order to offer a service to someone. The target group was possible street slum children, and youth; and the concept was to use available resources including waste as teaching aids and apparatus.

Involvement of others was necessary to facilitate registration, though they had diverse interests on the project, despite starting from a scratch.

It was amazing to realize how the project took off. The parents and guardians subscribed in kind to facilitate the feeding program.

Although we had no teaching materials, no books and no class rooms, it was possible to use part of my retirement benefits to start the project. We rented slum structures to creat a school that accommodated sixty children and six part time teachers.

The school encouraged multipurpose creativities, so that the materials would cover diverse subjects.

Children were inspired to collect fallen flowers and leaves, charcoal bits and peaces, sticks and whatever was freely available.

The nearby wood workshops offered saw-dust used as fuel to cook for the kids and wood off cuts to produce wooden toys.

Skilled workmen offered skills for production of wooden toys. Well wishers subscribed for work shop expanses including band-saw costs. The children's center produced the best wooden toys, and the happiest environment for the would be street children.

I was among those who subscribed for whatever was required in the free education for the poor slum children.

Other services included participation in the GYSN, where the youth volunteered to clean the environment by collecting garbage; which they did very happily.

The biggest challenge was when the illegal slum structures were pulled down, including the school that offered free education through the use of available resources. Most of the school production was stolen during the demolition.

The other challenge was public believe that all NGOs get great funding from donors even the very day they start to operate.

It is possible to inspire communities to serve without deserving a reward.

Imagine if we can avoid the use of: I, me, my, my capacity, for self esteem and selfish interest. There would be no strive for greed, no jealousy, no suspicion, if everyone aimed to do good to others. There would be cooperation, where everyone helps, and seeks advice for better achievement!

May the good God help us, and the "Good Deeds Project" be embraced by all the iEARN family members and help each one of us think of others more that we think of ourselves.

Quart: "It is better to give than to receive, and there is joy in doing good."

I trust the students participation in this most useful project will help to create a peaceful world and also a well Balanced Global Citizen.

Please allow to include some images.

Thank you dear moderator.

Helping my Team

Hi!! I'm Dayanne Ornellas from Brazil and I'm a student of CILT (Centro Interescolar de Línguas de Taguatinga - DF-Brazil)

I'm here to talk about my part in the Good Deeds Project, my part is in the study room co-operating as a monitor, helping other students that have doubts in their English. This is a very good part of the project because with it I can help my colleagues and improve my English. I like very much to be a monitor because I think is very good share knowledge with other people. This project is very good to me because being a monitor I discovered abilities of mine (teach and instruct). I hope the other people of this project can discover in themselves abilities and can take good memories of this project.

Visiting a Nursery School

Hi everibody of GOOD DEEDS PROJECT, we are Eline, Mikaele, Ana paula, Aline, Almir ,Vanessa and Ana Catarina . The group from CILT, Almerinda’s class. Now we will tell you about our Good Deeds Project.

Yesterday (June,20th) we visited a nursery school in the afternoon. How we planned, everything occurred very well. The nursery school is an NGO receives donations to keeps that opened. The children’s parents don’t have money to pay a private nursery school and they need help, so this nursery school takes care of their children every day, all day. There children have breakfast, have lunch, have dinner and at 17:30 their parents take they home. In the morning they go to the park and in the afternoon they stay in the rooms.

At 15:00 o’clock we arrived there and a teacher showed us the nursery school. She told us that they take care of 54 children. The age of them is one to five years old. When we saw the children, we felt very happy, because they were very surprised and happy with our visit .Then we stayed a little time with the little children. They have one and two years old .At first they were very shy (we too) but then, we started to play with them and they started to smile. A teacher was combing the girls’s hair and we helped her to pass moisturizing lotion in the other. When we were going away, we gave some candies to the teachers to give them after dinner.

Then we took leave them and they said good bye very happy and teachers thank us for the visit. It was a wonderful experience. Everybody liked it so much, because children like to stay with people who is loving and friendly with them. To do a good deed you don’t need to have only money ,but you have to have love, good w ill to help people and have to do they feel better. If everybody help other ,the world will be better and depends of you to don’t break this current!!!!!!!!! I hope you liked our good deeds project...

Care and Love

I had never done good deeds before. When I was 15 years old, my school started a project called "Aluno Cidadمo" or (Citizen Student). We had to help whit some charity actions. My group chose to visit an asylum. We stayed a day there playing the guitar and talking with people. When I arrived there, I felt a good feeling, a mixture of happiness and sadness. It was a big and important experience for me... Those people need more than actions to be happy. They need care and love - feelings that can move the world.

Two Messages

SOCORRO´S MESSAGES:

When I help my mother, I fell tired, but around 3 years ago, her arm were
wounded and I had to clean my house, wash the dishes and make food.
I asked my brother to help me because I felt tired because my house is
very big, and it was difficult to clean and at the same time make food. After that,
everyday, he helped me.
I took care of my mother and helped her.

ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING:

We are talking about the global warming everyday, because everybody is
suffering. The carbon dioxide is a polluter and it is a big problem because in the
atmosphere, it reduces the oxigen. When your grandson grown up and he will go to the place with ice, this place will stay totally different because the global warming is a problem that only we together can finish it.

The girl had a knife and hurted my friend. She was badly hurt and I had to help her. I took her to a hospital, and she was helped. Helping my Grandmother

Once, I was going to school when my father called me and told me that my grandma was alone at her house and was not so good. I didn't go to school, I went to my grandma's house. When I arrived there my relatives have called an ambulance and they were waiting for that . Then, the doctor told us that it was only a high blood pressure. Nobody could stay with her because they had to work. So, I stayed with her for three days and I helped her in everything that she needed untill she felt better.

A Good deed........ A Little Advice

people in deficiency or in need should be given priority. We should'nt put obstacles between us and them. On the contrary, we all have to do our best to make their life better. Good deeds aren't only actions.. Nice words can also leave the same effective influence that good actions usually do.

So I think that we shouldn't help other people to have their attention or admiration but to help them as much as we can and let them know that after every distress there is a welfare and there is always some light at the end of the tunnel..

So start to do beneficial job to get God blessings..

A little Child

I was walking with my friends when I saw a little child who was crying
because he had lost his mother. He did not speak well so, I took him to the mosque and a man called on the people telling them about the child. An hour later his parents came , took him and thanked me a lot...

Eid

When I was in Eid Alfitr, I saw a child, he wore a very old sweater and he looked poor.
He was watching the children playing near him… and he definitely hoped to do, to eat and to wear like them ….
I looked at him …, my heart really hurt me , then I took him to the wings and slides and let him play there, I also bought him a desert He looked happy and I felt happy two!!!

Our New Lonely Neighbour

She was an old lady who lived on the other side across the street. everybody was celebrating with their mothers or their kids. But the lights were off at her place, I asked my mother about her she said she had recently moved to our neighborhood and she had neither a husband nor kids.

The very next morning I baked a cake and headed to her house she opened the door. ''Good morning, this is for you.", I said. She smiled to me. I gave her the cake then she asked me in. She made me a cup of tea. And to tell the truth it was the tastiest cup of tea I have ever had in my entire life.

More from Grammar School Rawalpindi

We should all do good deeds to others and with parents.

• When someone is in difficulty, we should help him like:
• If some old men cannot cross the road, we should help him cross it.
• If a poor man wants money, we should give it to him.
• If any animal is in danger, we should help him
• If anyone has problems in studies, we should help him.
• To give someone smile is also included in good deeds.
• If someone starts fighting, we should stop the fight. If anyone is doing bad work, we should stop him.
• We should not lie.
• We should not speak the bad language that anyone feels bad.
• We should encourage others doing good things.

• By helping our parents in different works.
• Keeping our country clean.
• By taking good care of pet animals.

A good deed
Is the best deed
And those who do this deed
Are like beautiful beads
They fulfill the human needs
They feed the human beings
And look after the people in need
They are always ready to lead
They seek Allah Almighty’s guidance
In prostration when they kneel
They never lie and cheat
And are always ready to greet
They put the layers of loving sheets
And never bother about other’s greed
And they are the best of creed

Good Deeds
There are two kinds of deeds:
Good deeds and bad deeds.
Here, I am discussing good deeds. Deeds are the actins to perform in our life. There are always two paths, leading towards prosperity, success, and towards destruction, desolation. But to choose correct path is very difficult.
It is our responsibility to always take the right path and perform those deeds which lead to a prosperous, successful life.

Now I will tell about good deeds which can be performed.

• Always respect your elders
• Offer prayers five times a day
• Fulfill your duties honestly
• Avoid addiction
• Always speak truth
• Make reading a habit
• Sleep early at night
• Get up early in the morning
• Always have proper breakfast
• Always help others
• Don’t throw trash outside the bin

Now I will discuss some of the good deeds mentioned
We must respect our elders. When we give due respect to our elders, the young ones will respect us in the future as it is a cyclic process of all nations. To offer prayers is to keep ourselves with religion. In our busy lives, we have to manage to keep the time to offer prayers, so that we keep in touch with our religion Islam. Furthermore, offering prayers is beneficial for our spiritual and physical health.

Whatever occupation we have, it must be fulfilled with honesty. For example, policemen should protect people from danger with honesty.
Smoking and all kinds of addiction should be thrown out of our lives. We should always speak the truth and help others to solve their problems.
Reading is a good habit which can increase our vocabulary and enhance speaking and writing skills.

Taking exercise daily is necessary because, “A sound body has sound mind”.
If a person does not have proper health, he would not have a good brain to think. Breakfast is also very necessary to keep a person healthy. Never make trash and do not throw litter your room, house, city, country, so as to keep the whole world clean.

Action for Orphans

I am Sorry!

Well, this is a story that happened to me two years ago. I hope you will like it:

Friendship is the most important thing in our life, so we should know how to be friends with others and how to like our friends as we like ourselves. We also should try to forgive them whatever it happened between us.

one day, I had an argument with my best friend . we were just like sisters. But as usual the devil stirred up discord between us so we stayed not talking to each other for about a month. Actually, I missed talking to her and telling her my secrets . Besides, I know that Islam prohibited disagreement between Muslims and he who starts to apologize will get a better grade. Although it was difficult for me to say sorry but I did that and I'm proud of doing that because we came back friends again.

Love always,
Rama Shareifi,

No Enough Money

One day, when I was very late for my school, I forgot my money at home but I didn't notice that until I reached the square where I usually get on the bus. At that moment I couldn't come back home because I didn't have enough time and I also had Arabic exam.

I went to my friend's home but I didn't find her, then I saw two girls standing at the corner of the street, they were going to their school.

I asked them about the time and they saw how much worried I was. When they asked what was wrong, I told them what had happened so they gave me enough money to got on the bus.

I thanked them but I felt very bad and embarrassed. I don't know why..

Does it Worth it?

Have you ever got the feeling, or ask your self the question;

"Is it really worth it to bother yourself and get your self off to work forsomeone else?"

Aha! Actually, I get that feeling sometimes but when I see how happy the person I did him/her good is. I start thinking that, Yes! it is worth it!!it is when you give, not when you take, you feel happy.

Do you share the same ideas that I have??!

tell..

please...

Money for Charity

A group of Syrian people are doing their best to raise money for charity. And They built a hospital to treat poor people who have cancer. It will be responsible of the expenses of treatment. However, It needs some money to finish up the building and buy its equipments .So I decided made a contribution fund to raise some money for it.

All the people came and contribute for this wonderful work. After I collected enough money, I Gave it to the hospital and wrote "Who helps other people helps himself".

I was very happy because it was a good deed for every person who needs support.

Hello from Belarus: A Teenager Problem

Now there are many teenagers that have bad habits such as alcoholism, drugs, and smoking.
My elder brother began to contact with teenagers from unfavorable families. Then he started to smoke and drink alcohol. He got to militia many times. He wanted to enter the University but he failed. He stole money from our mother in order to buy alcohol. Once he didn’t appear at home for a few days.

When I knew about it I tried to help him. I told him that it would spoil his life that he would never find a friend, that he should do something to change himself. But he didn’t even listen to me.

Once I took him to the party where were many interesting people, who liked poetry. My brother is a very interesting and clever person but he was taken into a bad company. He was involved in the discussion of books, films and poetry and it was interesting for him. I took him to my company every day , we went to the cinema, to the theatre as often as possible. Soon he understood that life is wonderful without drugs and alcohol. He agreed to go to hospital.
He graduated from University. Now he is very happy.

A Unique Person

Hi,
This is Inas :)
I want to tell you about the person who does good deeds for me again and again without complain . Nothing forces her to do some thing like that for me .
I hurt her feelings , I made many big mistakes for her , although I made all those mistakes , she didn’t hurt me or leave me alone , she tried again and again to put me on the right way.

She didn’t hate me. She still loves me and does the best for me till now …. In addition to that she always forgives me about every thing.

Do you want to know who she is?
She is my MOTHER.
Mother is the only one in the world who loves you for infinity , and does good deeds for you with out waiting for you to pay her back!
I haven't found other people who does good deeds for me like her ….

with my love to all mothers in the world and especially mine..:)

Angel Face

one day in Ramadan ,I was at my grandmother' s home ,so I couldn’t come back early to my home ,so I missed the Iftar time (the time when Muslims eat after a fasting day).
While I was walking to my home I decided to buy some food ,and eat it.
,but there were a few people at the street ,because all people in their homes except me .
While I was walking I saw a very pretty small girl , looking at her clothes I knew that she was poor .

Her face was like the angel face, I couldn’t eat ,because she was looking at me ,she was so cute ,and thin , so I thought if I didn’t eat from the morning, who knew when was the last time she ate.

So I gave her the sandwich ,and the lemonade ,first she didn’t take it ,but I smiled , and told her please ,so she took it . She was very happy that I really forgot that I was starving.

A Helping Hand

Last year one day I went home with my friend ,we were talking with each other suddenly an old man stopped off ,and gave us two heavy bags .
First we were very angry with him ,but when we saw that he was carrying two heavy bags we did help him willingly ,and continued walking then he thanked us ,and went away .
Although we didn’t want to do that ,but finally we were very happy ,because we helped him.

Give Confidence / One to Two

Give Confidence
What a wonderful feeling when you make your friend's heart feel happy. When I surprised my friend while she was going up the stage of the theater. She was very happy & full of confidence & and she acted with all her feelings and talents.I wish I remained a real friend like that……………

One to Two
It's very nice when I gave a dark red flower to my teacherand it is even nicer when she gave that flower to another teacher who was in hospital, but it's the nicest when the two teachers thanked me very much.

Responsibility

This story happened to me a few years ago, I was a little girl. It started on a normal day, I had my lunch and went to my room for a nap, suddenly I heard a cat voice I thought that it was our neighbor's cat so I didn't pay any attention, but later the voice became louder and I noticed some movement under my bed so I jumped out of it and looked under it and I found little animales covered with strange liquid.

I thought that they were mice so I shouted "HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP, mom there are mice under my bed" and I began to cry. Mom told me to calm down and she checked the bed and told me "honey don't be afraid those are little kittins which just got born under your bed " I got so excited , but then I felt sorry for them because their mother left them with out any care ,they can't see, they have nothing to eat,so I begged mom to let me keep them. After thinking she accepted, so I took them and put them in a basket in my room and started to take care of them, I fed them, watched them until they grew up and become old enough to take care of them self so I let them go but they kept coming to our house and play in our garden and that was the first time that I felt that I have responsibility. .....

A Smile

At the museum

It was so beautiful the jewelry

That once belonged

To Tut Anc Amon

Watching them I stood

And at them I had a look

As I was amazed by them

I felt wind

I looked a way from them

nd turned my sight back round,
looked down

There were wheels...

For a chair!!!

I stepped back,

Gave a room for the woman,

Pointed her to go forward.

"See the treasurers of Tut Anc
Amon"

She nodded her head thank you,

And she smiled.

At that moment, her smile was
worth

Much more than the jewels of Tut
Anc Amon.

A Test

A human being usually finds
happiness when he gives and not when he takes.

Good work is like fresh water
which irrigates the trees of our life to help them bloom and give fruits.

The note book of my friend had
been lost, and we had a test on the next day.

She looked for it until she got
tired, and the happiness was seen on her face.

"What bad luck??!" she wondered

Actually studying from the book
is difficult and takes a lot of time.

So I decided to help her, but how
could I? I thought and I used my scanner to scan the papers of the note book,
then I sent them by e-mail to her.

Although I worked hard and it
took me a lot of time to do it but I was very happy.

I phoned my friend and asker her
to check her e-mail to print the attached papers. My friend was very happy.

I'll never forget her voice when
she thanked me from the bottom of her heart.

This is a good thing that I finally found in my life: My Grandma

A few years ago, my grandmother had an operation .She was very tired and needed someone to
stand by her.My mother was busy .so she asked me to stay with her to help and give her the medicines. To be honest I didn't accept to do this at first because I thought I'd be very bored there.but then I blamed my self for thinking in this selfish way .So I did as my mom said to me . I stayed with her, took care of her and did everything around the house. actually, I didn't feel bored as I thought on the contrary I felt very happy and proud of this human job.

Old Woman's Smile

One day , while I was crossing a
wide street , there was an old woman .That woman ,also, was crossing the street
hardly .I looked at her and thought that it's my duty to help her to hand her
and cross the street together .Truly , It was a moment of being a human being .
It was a moment of being happy. The woman's smile, the woman's face, the woman's
eyes, all of them made me feel that I am a Man . Her smile was the key which has
been engraved in my mind forever. Allah asks us to back little and old people.

A Little Kitten

It was very cold outside. Snow was falling so heavily. As I was standing by the window . I heard something I looked , but I wasn't able to see a thing. So I put my coat on and went down I looked carefully inside the bushes and it was a small kitten. I hold it and went back upstairs it was so wet I had to use a hairdryer to dry it, however when I tried to feed her she was so weak that she could not eat anything, after the storm calmed down I took it to the vet, and he gave her a medication and I took quite good care of her. After a couple of days she turned just fine. I was thrilled because of that. I wanted to keep it but my brother have an allergy of cats, however my grandfather owns a farm I took her there and I visit it every week. I know that was something very simple but it made me feel so great I would love to have the chance to do it again..

From Her Heart to Mine

A few days ago, I saw an old woman in the street she was carrying a very big bag, actually, I wondered how she could carry it so I ran to her and asked if I could help her. First she
said ,no I am all right, I can carry this by myself, thank you. I told her that it was okay but after a few seconds, she said "ok you can help me my dear", "Sure" I said happily.

I helped her to carry the bag but the most exciting thing was that when we reached her house, she gave me a small candy, it was very delicious it was more delicious than any thing I had
ever tasted it in my life ,because it came from heart to heart .

A Lost Little Girl

One day while I was walking in the street, I saw a little girl, the girl was crying loudly and she was shouting “mom, mom”. She was only four years old. She was as innocent as a little fresh
flower. I came close to her and carried her, “poor child!!” I wondered. “you don’t have to worry, sure we’ll find your mother ” I thought that feeling safe was the only thing that the girl really needed. I decided to stay with that pitiful child because I was sure that her Mom would return there to look for
her.

I stayed with for half an hour, then suddenly, I heard the girl shouting “mom, mom”.

Her mom came close to us and thanked me for staying with her all that time. “Thank God, I’m grateful to you!” the mother said. She glanced up at me with a big smile. The little girl’s eyes
were so full of joy and relief that I will never forget them.

GuESs wHaT......?
....... I'M DR PHIL just this once !

All of us has bad times in life ,some of us can survive and keep going normally, others can't and continue giving up to all bad things , some of those people are strong enough to wake up
before the zero level , the others we know what would happen to them .

I will tell you a story about a girl I know .she was very active girl cool and all this staff.

After years I started to notice that her eyes had become really cold, they no longer had any feelings, she started to be a different person, she became depressed for some reason that
i didn't know, she was going through a bad situation.

I thought that I had to help her, (actually I hate acting like Dr Phil but I was pushed to do it)

I couldn't watch her fading out without doing any thing to her ,so I started to talk to her. At the beginning, she refused to say anything but then she let it out. I tried to give her a
helping hand to start over and ears to listen until she was again the girl we all know.

I can't tell you how I felt that time, it was a feeling of indescribable happiness. Honest friends are real gifts!

you know .... it's fine to be dr Phil

More stories from Belarus!

Hello again and more stories from Belarus!

One day in summer I went for a walk with my friend Alex. The weather was fine. Suddenly I saw a puppy. The puppy was small and nice. I liked it very much. I decided to take the puppy home. Every day I fed it and looked after it. One day in the morning I didn't find it. I looked for it everywhere, I called it by name, but the puppy didn't respond. Next day when I went out the house I saw the puppy in the street. It wasn't alone. The puppy was with its mother. It was merry. I smiled and stroked the puppy and its mother. I calmed down because the puppy found its mother.

I have a puppy. He is small, good and kind. He likes to run, to play with me. But once he fell ill. We thought he would die. My mother and I took him to the vet. The vet prescribed some medicine for my poor puppy. We were very sad but didn't lose our hope. Soon he began to eat a little and drink water. It was a good sign. And we wre not mistaken. Soon he recovered. I was happy. He meets me after shool and we play again. We are best friends.

Re: The Truth About SMOKING

Anti-smocking:
Hi the way that I feel about smocking is yuck it is a very harmful and can do great damage it is very hard to quit and you lose out on a lot of thing. For people who live with you and do not smoke it is really gross and stinks and they have a high risk of smoking when they get older. So you should not smoke and talk to your kids about smoking so hopefully they will not smoke either. If you show them what it dose to your lungs and hopefully they will not smoke.

Good deeds go a long way!!!

Everyday something good happens to you. Whether you know it or not that good deed which was done to you was a result of someone receiving a good deed from someone else. We shouldn't expect people to do things for us because we do good things for them, but we should know that because we are doing good for the world that the world through the different people, organizations, and groups will provide unseeable good deeds that will affect our lives. Feeding the homeless can help someone gain the motivation to go out and apply for a job which in turn lowers the unemployment rates, which opens the door for more businesses to start, which help people across the country get a job, which continues to stimulate the local economy, which helps the larger economy, which strengthens the globally economy, which keeps the computer companies from going under and we are able to continue using things like IEarn, which in turn made my day better by knowing that there are some people in the wor ld that cares besides me. just a thought..

Homless Children

Have you ever considered your own self while you were back in your early ages [ex : 8-14] working instead of a mother taking care of you and a father willing you the best life in the future, imagine your childhood was full of nightmares as you were working while you are getting no care, no education, just nothing but ur own world where u work,

Sherouk would like to talk to you more about it..

""Which football club do you support, Ahli or Zamalek?" 10- year-old Ahmed (not his real name) asks. "You know the match is on tonight, right? I'm going to watch it, it doesn't matter where; any coffee shop will do. But it'll be good!" Bright-eyed Ahmed has been sleeping outside the Aboe-El Abas Mosque for the last four nights. By day, he sells packets of handkerchiefs to pedestrians and tourists. "I'm not a beggar," he declaims proudly. "I work." Already, at the age of 10, he has been twice detained by the police, having been caught selling handkerchiefs. "No one came to pick me up when I was released," he explains, "no one even sent me food while I was in there. I hardly ate -- just bread, whatever other inmates had to spare."

For children like Ahmed, conditions at home are so hopeless that street life seems to offer a brighter future, however marginally. "I manage, with God's help. Am I happy? I'm co ld -- as we sit and talk now I'm freezing."

Nor is this his first experience of living on the street. This time he left home because of his mother, he says: "She beats me so often. I don't keep a tally on how often she beats me," he laughs, "but I tell you it's a lot. It's better this way."

"I want to go home, but not so long as my mother's there. She's going to go and stay with my father in Hurghada, which is where he's from," he continues. "She goes often enough, and every time she travels, she takes my two brothers and two sisters with her. But I'm the naughtiest of the lot, so she leaves me behind."

Fatma, a tall peroxide blond who looks 12, does not know how old she is. Her friends call her Sattuta -- which roughly translates to "little madam" -- though she scolds them for it. Unlike the vast majority of them, she has a home she can go back to. "Sattuta's like my elder sister," says Ahmed. "She and I are always together."

The two children are keen to know where their stories will be published, and whether things will change for them as a result. Media exposure notwithstanding, their living conditions inspire little hope. "I don't go to school. Of course I'd love to, but it's too expensive. So it has to be this way, I suppose," Ahmed says.

It is at this moment that two police officers approach us -- to inform me that it is strictly forbidden to conduct interviews with street children.

Though it is impossible to verify how many Egyptian minors find themselves living, working and sleeping on the streets -- with the majority of cases still occurring in Cairo and Alexandria -- UNICEF estimates that there are 200,000- one million homeless children in Egypt.

Among the threats they daily confront are illness, hunger, injury, sexual abuse, physical violence and exposure to and consequent dependence on illicit substances, not to mention the psychological trauma of growing up without a sense of belonging to a home and a family -- a trauma in no way helped by the way in which they are systematically marginalized.

By Egyptian social standards, they live in a separate world with its own, separate set of rules. "These aren't children," one passer-by interrupts the conversation to remark. "They're devils -- don't believe a word they tell you."

Helping Orphans

Helping orphans and taking care of them is a more than a good deed, Its more like noble work which shows how much does this person cares for those who are suffering, like these children who are suffering their loss of their parents, Yoman decided to talk to you about this headline in the next article..

" Have you ever thought of these people, those who lost their parents, even the father, mother or both? When they were children they needed every second to live in the presence of their parents.

May be you didn't know the feeling of the Orphans, because you didn't pass with their situations before, the Orphans are like any such children , in the same age, they want a mother to know their feelings , to tell their secrets, and to understand what they think of.

They want to know the feeling of a father, who cares for them, and works hard to hope his children an easy, comfortable and happy life.
They never thought that they can lose any of their parents one day, if so, they wouldn't miss even a second with them in their life time, but what of that? You don't know what is the fate hiding for you ? You didn't think that the days will take someone dear to you , and what if this person was your father , or your mother ? The dearest to your heart than anyone else!

But what about the others, who were born fatherless ,, or lost their father, or mother when they were too young to understand the meaning of (parents) ? They may not feel the same as the others who - at least - live with their parents a short time , and began to understand each other , and lived together some time ,when love began to grow between them & suddenly they are choked to hear their parents lost for ever!

In both situations , I think - it is the worst feeling for anyone , I just can't imagine the life without interacting in a way creamed with care , love and aid in the relationship between the parents and their children.
We all have to thank God a lot for that gift , hoped to us without asking to have it , this real gift that is hard to lose our parents.

you can go to visit, some special places for Orphans , there you can find the real meaning of ( losing parents ) , we - sure - can't substitute the love and care of their parents with our love to them , but - at least -we will draw an innocent smile on their poor faces , your visit can cheer and amuse the many heart that were full of sorrow, and remember that feeling pity for the Orphans & keeping your mind thinking of them only isn't enough to help them any thing.

GO, with some friends & visit them , this positive action will lead you to more , and be sure when you do this, that you don't expect anything from other . You do this only to help some poor disappointed Children.

God will ask you how you treated people and how you helped others - with a pure intention -, and of course you want to answer happily that you did a lot - as much as you can - ,you are not an angel after all !

Helping Orphans is a small branch of many other ways for doing Good Deeds !

Thanks
